Do my players need to download an app?

They don't have to. Ballr works in any web browser on any device—iPhone, Android, laptop, tablet—so players can check availability and follow the club feed with nothing to install. There is also a free Ballr app on the App Store and Google Play, which most players prefer because availability requests arrive as a notification rather than a message they have to remember to answer.

How long does it take to set up?

About 10 minutes. Create your club, add your squad and your first fixture. That's it. You can start using Ballr immediately.

I don't have a laptop, can I still use Ballr?

Yes. Ballr runs in any web browser, so a phone or tablet is all you need—iPhone, Android, whatever you've got. There's a free app on the App Store and Google Play as well, and everything a club needs to run a season works from a phone.

What if I'm already using Football NI or another league app?

Perfect—keep using Football NI and your other league apps. Ballr focuses on managing your team internally—availability, squad selection, training schedules, lineup graphics, match reports, and player stats.

Can I use Ballr on my phone?

Absolutely. Ballr works in any mobile browser today—check availability on the bus, pick your squad at the pitch. A native Ballr app for iPhone and Android is launching soon for an even smoother experience.

Do players need to create an account?

No. The weekly availability link works without an account — it carries the player's own token, which matters for the players who will never install anything. If they want the full club feed, their player profile or their membership, they can create a free account.

What's the difference between a player and a user?

A player is someone you've added to your club roster. A user is someone who has created a Ballr account. Players can become users by signing up, but they don't have to—they can still receive availability requests and see basic club information without an account.

How much does it cost?

You can start for free and see if Ballr works for you. All core features like managing players, match scheduling and your public club profile—are free forever. Ballr Plus features like availability requests via WhatsApp and payment collection are priced based on the number of players your club has in our system. You can see the pricing for each plan on our Pricing page.

Do I need Ballr Plus to manage my club?

No! All core features are free forever. You can manage unlimited players, create fixtures, post match reports, and maintain your public club profile—all for free. Ballr Plus only adds features like availability requests using WhatsApp messaging and payment collection.

Why does Ballr Plus have tiered pricing?

Ballr Plus uses tiered pricing so that smaller clubs can afford to use Ballr Plus features. Pricing is based on the number of players your club has in our system. The more players you have, the more it costs to send messages and process payments, so our price increases to reflect that.

Can I change plans later?

Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Ballr Plus subscription at any time. Changes take effect immediately.

Is there a free trial?

The Ballr Core plan is available forever—no trial needed! If you want to try Ballr Plus features, you can upgrade at any time and cancel any time.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your Ballr Plus subscription from your club's billing page at any time. Go to your club dashboard, click "Billing", and select "Manage Billing". Your Ballr Plus features will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. For club membership fees and donations, supporters can pay using any payment method that Stripe supports in their region.

Why are some features only available on Ballr Plus?

Some features are only available on Ballr Plus because they require additional resources to operate. For example, availability requests using WhatsApp messaging and payment collection require a higher level of service to ensure they are delivered reliably and securely.

How does the Ballr referral programme work?

Every club gets a unique referral code automatically. When another club starts Ballr Plus using your code, they get £10 off their first month, and your club receives £5 credit toward your Ballr Plus subscription. You can find your code and track referrals on the Referrals page.

Where do I find my referral code?

Open Referrals from the main menu (under Billing). Your code is shown at the top of the page with a copy button. Codes are generated automatically—you can't choose or change them.

What does the new club get?

A club that enters a valid referral code when upgrading to Ballr Plus gets £10 off their first month only. The discount is applied automatically at Stripe checkout. It doesn't apply to later months or to Ballr Core (which is already free).

What does my club get for referring someone?

You earn £5 credit for each club that successfully starts a paid Ballr Plus subscription with your code. Credits stack with no limit—three successful referrals mean £15 credit, and so on. Credit is only added after their first payment succeeds.

How is referral credit applied?

Credit is stored on your club's Ballr Plus Stripe customer balance and applied automatically to future Ballr Plus subscription invoices. You don't need to enter a coupon or do anything each month. If your credit covers the full invoice, you won't be charged until the balance runs low enough that a charge is needed again.

Can referral credit be used for anything else?

No. Referral credit only offsets your club's Ballr Plus subscription. It can't be used for player membership fees, donations, or any other payments collected through Stripe Connect.

Who can use a referral code?

Referral discounts are for clubs taking out a Ballr Plus subscription for the first time (no previous Plus subscription on that club). You can't use your own club's code. Clubs that previously subscribed and cancelled aren't eligible for the £10 new-club discount again.

When do I see the £5 credit?

After the referred club's first Ballr Plus payment succeeds. Until then the referral may show as pending on your Referrals page. If they abandon checkout, no credit is awarded.

Is there a limit to how many clubs I can refer?

No. You can refer as many clubs as you like. Each successful Plus signup adds another £5 to your credit balance, and that balance keeps covering Ballr Plus invoices until it's used up.

How does player availability tracking actually work?

Your squad gets one message a week covering every training session and every match in it — by WhatsApp, email or push notification, depending on what each player has. They open a link and answer the lot in one place with "In", "Maybe" or "Out". No account, no app, no password.

You see it as a week: who has confirmed, who is partly done, and who has said nothing. Send it automatically on your chosen morning, or press the button yourself.

Can I choose when the weekly request goes out?

Yes. The cog on the availability screen sets the day and time, and whether it sends itself at all. Monday or Tuesday morning, or manual — where the button stays and Ballr simply stops pressing it. New clubs start on manual, so nothing reaches your squad before you have looked at the week.

How do I chase players who have not replied?

Once the week has gone out, the send button becomes "Remind non-responders". It goes only to players with something still unanswered — anyone who already replied is skipped — and it is capped at two reminders a week. A squad that has ignored two will ignore a third, and the third costs the players who did answer.

Do training sessions and matches get asked about separately?

No, and that is the point. A squad asked twice answers once and forgets the other, so Ballr asks once and the player answers both on one screen. Training answers stay open right up until the session starts; a match locks 48 hours before kick-off so you can pick a squad — though a player who never replied can still get an answer in.

Can I create professional-looking lineup graphics?

Absolutely. With Lineup Builder (Ballr Plus feature), you can pick your formation, drag your players into position, and Ballr generates a clean, shareable starting XI graphic that looks professional.

How do I add players to my club?

From your club dashboard, go to "Players" and click "Add Player". Enter their name, position, email address, and phone number. You can also use our spreadsheet import feature to upload a CSV,Excel or similar file to add large numbers of players at once.

Can I manage multiple teams?

Yes! You can create multiple teams within your club—first team, reserves, youth teams, etc. Each team can have its own fixtures, squad selection, and graphics.

How do I create a match or training session?

For a match, go to "Matches" and click "Create Match". For training, tell Ballr which nights you train under when you train and it creates the sessions from that pattern, including the weeks you are off. You can add a one-off session for a cup-tie run-out or a keepers' night at any time.

Anything in the week is included in that week's availability message automatically — you do not ask about it separately.

Can I collect membership fees through Ballr?

Yes, if you're on Ballr Plus. You can create membership rates (monthly or annual), and players can sign up and pay directly through Stripe. Payments go straight to your club bank account, and Ballr handles all the recurring billing automatically.

How do match reports work?

After a match, go to the match page where you can add the score, match events (goals, cards, substitutions), select a Star Player, and write a report. The report is automatically posted to your club feed and visible on your public club profile.

Can supporters donate to my club?

Yes, if you're on Ballr Plus. You can enable donations on your club profile, and supporters can make one-off or monthly donations directly to your club bank account via Stripe. All donations are tracked in your club dashboard.

Can I invite other people to help manage the club?

Yes. From your club settings, you can invite other users to join as club administrators or staff. Administrators have full access to manage the club, while staff can be assigned specific permissions.

How do I post to the club feed?

From your club dashboard, go to "Feed" and click "Create Post". You can add text, images, or videos. Posts appear on your club's public profile and in the feed for players and followers.

How do I change my email address?

Go to "My Account" from the main menu, then click "Edit Profile". Update your email address and click "Save". You'll receive a verification email to confirm the change.

How do I reset my password?

If you have forgotten your password and can't log in, on the login page, click "Forgot password?" and enter your email address. We'll send you a link to reset your password. If you just want to change your password, go to "My Account" and click "Change Password".

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to "My Account", scroll to the bottom, and click "Delete Account". Please note this action is permanent and cannot be undone. If you're a club owner, you'll need to transfer ownership or delete the club first.

Can I transfer club ownership to someone else?

Yes. Go to your club settings, click "Club Admins", and you'll see an option to transfer ownership. The new owner will need to accept the transfer.

How do I link my player profile to my account?

If your club manager has added you as a player, you can link your player profile when you sign up for a Ballr account. Use the same email address your manager has on file, and Ballr will automatically match you to your player profile.

Can I hide my public player profile?

Yes. Go to "Player Profile" from the main menu and toggle "Make my profile public" off. Your profile page will no longer be accessible to the public, but you'll still appear in club statistics and squad lists.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We take data security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices and regularly review our security measures. Payment data is handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

Who can see my club's information?

Your club profile, fixtures, results, and match reports are public by default—anyone can view them. Player contact details (email, phone) are only visible to club administrators. Players can control whether their public profile is visible to everyone or hidden.

Do you sell my data?

No. We never sell your data to third parties. We don't send spam. We only use your data to provide the Ballr service and improve your experience.

Can players see other players' contact details?

No. Player contact details (email addresses and phone numbers) are only visible to club administrators. Players can see each other's names and positions, but not their personal contact information.

How do you handle GDPR compliance?

We're fully GDPR compliant. You can request a copy of your data, request deletion, or update your information at any time. We only collect data necessary to provide the service, and we never share it with third parties without your consent.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

When you delete your account, we remove all your personal information from our systems within 30 days. If you're a club owner and delete your club, all club data is also removed. Match reports and public posts may remain visible but will no longer show your personal information.

Is there a Ballr mobile app?

A native Ballr app for iPhone is launching first, with an Android app to follow. It gives managers and players a faster, home-screen way to handle availability, squad selection, the club feed, and matchday. In the meantime, the full Ballr experience already works in any mobile web browser—so you can start today with nothing to install.

Will you add more features in the future?

Absolutely! We are constantly adding new features and improving existing ones. If there is a feature you would like to see, please let us know and we will consider it for future development.

Who built Ballr?

Ballr was built by football people, for football people. We've been there—managing teams, chasing players, juggling multiple squads across Northern Ireland. We built Ballr because we needed it ourselves.

Where is Ballr based?
